About DrsMedChoice

Buy and sell pre-owned medical equipment nearby.

What this is

DrsMedChoice is a marketplace where clinics and equipment dealers buy and sell pre-owned medical equipment. Listings are seller ads; paying for equipment and picking it up happen off-platform.

  • Search listings by keyword and distance from a ZIP code or your current location.
  • Post equipment from a phone: photograph the device or its label, and vision fills in the name and description for you to edit.
  • Message a seller directly in a per-listing chat, with a push notification when a reply arrives.
  • Edit, review, or remove your own listings from your account page.

How it works

You sign in with Google. To sell, you upload photos of the equipment and its label. The server sends the photo to a third-party LLM provider that extracts make, model, and description text; you review and edit every field before saving. Images are stored in Amazon S3, and every new or edited listing waits for moderator review before it appears in search.

Buyers search keywords against listing titles and descriptions, plus a radius of 1 to 100 miles (25 by default). Results are sorted by straight-line distance from the search point, then by recency.

Chat messages are stored in our database and delivered as push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging. Firebase Analytics records sign-up, listing creation, and message-sending outcomes with no message content. Google handles sign-in. Stripe handles listing fees and subscriptions; listing payment enforcement is currently off, so posting is free.

Limits: vision reads devices and labels, not condition or regulatory class. Distance is straight-line miles from a ZIP centroid, not driving distance. Listings are seller claims. We do not test, calibrate, inspect, or ship equipment, and sellers are responsible for regulatory compliance.

Why it exists

Usable equipment sits in storage while other practices pay full price for new devices. Second-hand sales mostly run through email chains and general classifieds, where nothing filters by device class, condition, or distance.

DrsMedChoice keeps discovery local and plain: keyword search, distance, and direct chat, with no bidding. It keeps the compliance boundary visible instead of burying it — Class III devices are prohibited, and listings, messages, and images are screened for health data. It keeps equipment transactions off-platform so the marketplace never holds money for a sale.

It deliberately does not inspect equipment, verify condition, arrange shipping, escrow funds, or process equipment payments.

Who it is for

Built for: clinics, private practices, and equipment dealers buying or selling Class I and Class II medical devices.

Not for: Class III devices (life-sustaining, life-supporting, implantable, or prescription-only), patient health information, or equipment payment and escrow. DrsMedChoice is not an EHR, a clinical system, or an inspection service.
